Introduction to Collage : $150
For beginners or those wanting a refresher in basic collage techniques. You will learn how to prepare a substrate for collage. How to create a background and focal point for a collage. I will show you how to use adhesives, gesso, paint, distress ink, felts and charcoal to complete a collage piece using vintage images and papers. All materials will be provided. You will take home a completed piece and supply list to get you started so you can start creating on your own.

“I’m going to go upstairs and try something terrifying.” Hubby says, “What?” I say, “I’m going to go upstairs and try to repeat what my art teacher taught me.” 🙂 When Canadian artist Wilma taught me how to use a simple paper towel like a stencil to create a background layer design, it was so magical!!! But my first couple of attempts to do it back at home rather sizzled. Upstairs in my “art studio” I felt like a scientist who makes a miraculous discovery and fears he can’t repeat the results. Indeed, I finally got the paper towel imprint to show up a little on my canvas (and I think it’s because it’s a canvas and not a hard surface??) but when I went to practice on solid wood: Voila! I did it!! After learning this trick, I’ll never look at paper towel the same. Wilma I can’t say it enough: MERCI BEAUCOUP!!
