Introduction to Collage  : $150

For beginners or those wanting a refresher in basic collage techniques. You will learn how to prepare a substrate for collage. How to create a background and focal point for a collage. I will show you how to use adhesives, gesso, paint, distress ink, felts and charcoal to complete a collage piece using vintage images and papers.  All materials will be provided. You will take home a completed piece and supply list to get you started so you can start creating on your own.

Testimonials from happy participants the last year before the pandemic and samples of student work.

Four friends contacted me for a workshop day…here is a thank you letter and an in progress shot of our fun day.

Trishia , July 24, 2019

“I’m going to go upstairs and try something terrifying.” Hubby says, “What?” I say, “I’m going to go upstairs and try to repeat what my art teacher taught me.” πŸ™‚ When Canadian artist Wilma taught me how to use a simple paper towel like a stencil to create a background layer design, it was so magical!!! But my first couple of attempts to do it back at home rather sizzled. Upstairs in my “art studio” I felt like a scientist who makes a miraculous discovery and fears he can’t repeat the results. Indeed, I finally got the paper towel imprint to show up a little on my canvas (and I think it’s because it’s a canvas and not a hard surface??) but when I went to practice on solid wood: Voila! I did it!! After learning this trick, I’ll never look at paper towel the same. Wilma I can’t say it enough: MERCI BEAUCOUP!!
