The Galiano

For my cousin Susan. Our grand-parents were siblings and they lived in Spotlight Cove on North Galiano Island on the West Coast of Canada. Our parents grew up there. Our family lived on Galiano through two world wars and the great depression and into the early 1980s. We all hold fond memories of this special place.

The Montague

For my brother Jack, featuring our father’s vintage charts, full of memories of our childhood cruising haunts: Montague Harbour, Active Pass, Prevost Island, Wallace Island, Pirate’s cove, Porlier Pass, Blackberry Point and Spotlight Cove. The found objects are nautical items that belonged to our father: vintage key fobs of propeller and an anchor and his power squadron pin from when he was the Commander of the local group. We were fortunate indeed.

A trio of Cuttles

The trio went their seperate ways headed for a life of adventure. One headed for Paris, the other to the South Seas and the third was roaming the globe. The would meet up again one day, of that you could be sure.

In the Vicinity of Georgia Strait

While he was in the Vicinity he thought he would set Georgia straight!

Island Life

Island life is much more laid back, they all agreed…you can hitch a ride to the harbour; hang-out with your peeps; chill out on the beach.., they would never dream of moving to the city.

Porpoise Harbour

They synchronized their swimming on porpoise so as to arrive in unison. They were carefully stacked like sardines but of course they were not sardines at all. Porpoise Harbour had never seen such a spectacle.
