Off to the tropics again: luggage tag

Costa Rica Song

I wanna leave this place yeah to never be found
I wanna leave my old life far behind
Can I lose my name, be someone new
And I’ll throw my trouble deep in the wild blue

Let’s leave too me and you babe
Let’s go to Costa Rica
Let’s leave to me and you babe
Let’s go to Costa Rica

Ostrich on the run : art tag

Hurry, scurry, hop to it. You’re late. You’ll never get there on time.

Run, scoot, off with you! Skidaddle, fly, get a move on!

Step on it! Time is of the essence so snap to it , I say!

Come on, giddy up! Let`s go!

YOU’VE GOT MAIL: altered post cards

You’ve got mail Harvey….from Juliette. That poor little Belgian girl that you mislead with your winning ways. Now she writes to you imploring you to answer her, to love her. At first the postcards are in French and then she learns English, to please you. She is hoping you will reply. Little does she know that you also receive postcards from Jane and Helga and Maria and others…Did she live a life of bitterness, cursing those drat Canadians or did she find someone after the war was over…maybe she went on to lead a happy life. We will never know.

GIFTED

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here is the long suffering Juliette. And on the reverse….
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA The nuns get into the wine.

Yet another missive from Juliette…She has hand drawn a speech bubble with the letter H for Harvey. And on the reverse….

The circus is here, arriving by paquebot. Maybe Juliette went to cheer herself up.

Voila Jane, a more sensible English paramour, who only wrote once to charming Harvey. And on the reverse…. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Jane’s bicycle and a few  dancing girls to spice things up.

And finally here is Harvey ( on the left). Are we being too harsh with you Harvey. You are awfully young and it was the Great War after all and you were far from home. Still, you could have been kinder to Juliette. And on the reverse…..

Mugshots and turpentine.. not very subtle I admit. But that is how it is Harvey.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA    Thank you to Lori for gifting me your uncle Harvey’s postcards. He is long gone but his        exploits live on.

VINTAGE TAGS: ELEVEN, TWELVE, THIRTEEN

Grommet, grommet, grommet…mission accomplished, thirteen, slightly odd tags completed as planned, I will put my grommet tool away….for now. The tags are all tucked snugly into a galvanized tin on the coffee table, waiting…..

British Army trainees exercising on a vintage French calling card; Heart Stimulant tablets, for obvious reasons; and a bus ticket stub the grommet hides the number 13.

Three vintage seashells (one hidden by a Blackpool bus ticket) on an antique French letter from the 1700 s.

art tag 13 copy

Antique bees on French typography; a dancing girl in stop motion and an Eiffel Tower faux-postage stamp all affixed on a Post Card from World War I. On the postcard Juliette from Belgium, is beseeching her Canadian lover Harvey, to reply to her outpourings of love in previous cards… to no avail. Alas Harvey, the scoundrel, has received many such post cards from other European lasses unbeknownst to Juliette. I happen to be in possession of his collection that he kept all his life…perhaps as a reminder of his wild days during the war, having settled for a life of conventionality in a small Canadian town. Thank you to Lori for gifting me her Uncle Harvey’s post card collection. I promised Lori that I would be kind to Juliette as she had written so many unrequited messages.

RAG, TAG, PAPER BAG: art tags

A strange little collection of raggedy tags for Amy with thanks. What will she do with them? How best to make use of  the butterflies, the football guy and the hot air balloon? Does she have something calling out for identification or categorization ?
